Plagiarism again?

Wahhh is the Man of God still copying? See here
http://www.konghee.com/www/2010/05/godly-sorrow/

This first half is definitely similar to Neil Anderson's devotional. http://www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/dailyinchrist/544432/

Too many paragraphs are word for word copy. What do you think? Will the world-renowned Neil Anderspn plagiarise another man's work? Some more KH can talk about repentance and godly sorrow? he already known to plagiarise before so he should walk the talk and repent right? Some more this article is also found in KH's book sold at S$14/ "Renewing Your Spiritual Life Vol 2" Day 46 Page 99. If he borrows another man's article, can he claim that he is "sharing his insights from the Bible" (his claim on back page of book?)

  1. That sounds like direct copyright violation. You can report it to Neil Anderson and see if he sues. Under Singapore law (cap. 52, part V) he can ask for an injunction or damages or a chunk of the profits or statutory damages.

He can also request for all the infringing copies of KH's book to be destroyed if breach of copyright is verified.

KH can possibly be fined up to $10,000 for each offence (max $100,000) and jailed up to 5 years if found guilty.

  2. Christians cannot sue other Christians, right?

  3. Actually, it s a poor excuse to use the Bible to defend one's own sinful actions.

  4. Anyway Treb, this is a good test for the man of God to see if he really belongs to God. I have posted quite a number of evidences of his plagiarism. I am sure he or his intelligence staff must be aware of the posts here. If he repents, retracts his web postings and withdraws his book from sales, that would prove he is a God-fearing man of God who prefers the approval of God above the disapproval of man. That would be fine with me If he does not repent then well. "it is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God" (Heb 10:31). How God works is fine with me also.

  5. I would not take a side right now, but just wanna point out in fairness that it is possible that Ps Kong did not personally write that article. Similar to how my church has a team of writers to put together our website and magazines, they too may have people in place to do that.

Pastor Kong may have at the most read through it, approve it and forward it to the IT guy for posting. He may not even know it bears resemblence to the articles already on the net, cos he probably trusts the writers and does not see a need to police their work.

To give benefit of doubt, I'd say at most, one of the servers got a bit lazy and "researched" something to make a deadline.

side joke: when you copy from 1, its plagiarism, when you copy from 100, its research.. HAHA

  6. It makes NO difference who was the actual culprit, the buck stops at KH's doorstep. It's issued in his name. No way to side step the responsibility. That's what a leader is supposed to be. The saying no bad soldiers/followers only bad leaders.

  7. Then I suggest instead of immediately blasting it out in the open publicly, write a letter or request an audience with a leader of that church, highlight to them the problem and see if they do anything about it.

If one leader does nothing, move on to another leader. Or try a higher rank... Surely there is someone with wisdom, else they would not have survived so long.. But by no means do we take other people's dirty laundry and gossip about it to others.

And disicpline should be done in private..

    "Paul did it!"

You and I, we are not Paul..

And Ps Kong is not Peter...

Like Emily said, the buck stops at Ps Kong. Therefore, bring it to his attention, and let him handle it..

Go by the front door if you are 100% sure of your case, and let God fight your battle, but while doing so, do not do it with the heart of tearing a man or his doctrine down...

There are 2 ways to go about this problem here. One, is correction in love, where you know Ps Kong or whoever reads about this and is able to rectify and redeem the situation, and everyone gives glory to God. The second, is to dig up dirt with intent of malice, and to ruin a reputation, to obtain some satisfaction.

I hope this is not the latter. =)

  8. Jo, let us say KH emploted a ghost writer. But it is on his blog. People write laudatory comments to him and no one else. If he did emply a ghost writer, it becomes even scary because that is deceitful. A daily devotion from God's Word is like God speaking to you in your quiet time. How can you mis-represent another person's word from God as yours.

Furthermore, you forget that in his book "Renewing Your Spiritual Life" he has willingly allowed the publisher to say KH is "sharing his insights from the Bible in a balanced manner..." HIS insights? Whose insights actually.

I would think for a man of God, the honourable thing to begin with is to withdraw all the books from circulation and perhaps even offer to pay the buyers back. I am sure that would be a God-pleasing sight showing real fruits of repentance...

  9. He sold his 'tainted' books to the public. The sin is no more a private sin is it?

Am I tearing the man down? I did provide clear evidence so that any reader can decide for themselves. There is no innuendo, allusions etc.

So now I am to be examined for my motives? That it is hoped I have no malice in my heart. I hardly care what anyone thinks. If God thinks I am wrong, He will smite my heart just as he smote David's heart when David touched God's anointed king.

I hardly have the time to play round the mulberry bush by going from one leader to another. Like I said earlier, this is a good way for the man of God to examine himself to see if he really belongs to God. How God works is fine with me

You raised this point up according to your own judgment of what is integrity. Nothing wrong with that. KH books are open (and open for discussion), so this blog is open (and open for discussion).

The going from one level to the next, in my opinion, is only effective if the levels are uncorrupted. You can only raise a matter up for righteousness if in the first place the leaders are righteous themselves. Otherwise you know what kind of judgment you will receive - unrighteous. Just as it happened in my case. And mind you, I have had more than one bad experience where I followed the heirarchy and either I received a backlash or the leaders ruled in favor of more cover up. Seems like they always choose to rectify the act rather than repent of the motive.

Look at how CHC handled Jack Neo's case. Again, in my opinion, they helped him to rectify the act but did not discipline him to repent of the motive. Then again, maybe Jack doesn't need to come under church discipline because of his status and connection with the government. I truly respected the ex-girlfriend for exposing this man, despite every attempt to make her out to be evil.

I know it can be very intimidating with what you are up against when you speak the truth. But hey man, it is worth it.
